Disability Education and Training – Webinar

July 28 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm MST

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 61 million adults, or 1 in 4 people in the United States live with a disability. As service providers, we are tasked with working with people living with a disability be it a temporary or a chronic condition in the hopes of improving their quality of life and independence. Expanding knowledge through disability training and education can help to improve our interactions with the disabled community and create a more inclusive environment for those we serve. This course will provide the most up-to-date information on health disparities, disability definitions, effective communication practices, The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and barriers to inclusion through ableist and forced intimacy practices. This information will provide valuable insights into managing health conditions and fostering resilience in the disabled population.

Highlights

  • Expand your knowledge of disabilities, the disabled community, and how health disparities affect those in the disabled community
  • Best practice guidelines to avoid ableist behaviors to make your practice or services more inclusive
