SUMMARY:Strengthening Executive Functioning Skills in Children with ADHD - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nChildren and teens diagnosed with ADHD have challenges in their executive functioning. These may show up as problems following directions or remembering a sequence of activities. Children may have difficulty learning from past mistakes\, staying focused for duration of a task\, or maintaining emotional control in stressful situation. They may struggle with organization of personal items or to-do lists\, with being flexible with unexpected changes\, and with managing their time efficiently. These difficulties\, in turn\, manifest into problems at home\, school\, work\, and with social skills. \nExecutive functioning skills are the missing link between intentions and action. In this presentation we will identify the executive functioning skills and discuss how they are impacted by ADHD and related neurodiverse diagnoses. We will identify how to evaluate executive functioning and discuss intervention strategies and ways that we can increase support to improve development of the executive functions throughout childhood and adolescence and into early adulthood. The participant will learn three ways to empower individuals of all ages to strengthen executive functioning skills. \nThis course is presented in lecture form with questionnaires and handouts developed by the instructor to assist the participant in working with children and families. \nCourse Objectives\nAt the end of this course\, the participant will be able to: \n\nDefine Executive Functioning and identify the executive skills\nList ways in which executive skills are impacted by ADHD and related diagnoses\nIdentify how to evaluate executive functioning skills\nDiscuss each skill in detail and identify intervention strategies to enhance development of executive skills\nDifferentiate common issues related to executive functioning skills across childhood and adolescence\nList 3 ways to structure treatment in order to empower individuals to strengthen their executive functioning skills

SUMMARY:Therapeutic Kinesiology Taping for Children With Neurological Impairments - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Children with neurological impairments benefit from improved sensory perceptive information coming into their nervous system. Therapeutic kinesiology taping can facilitate muscle activity\, inhibit abnormal muscle activity\, assist to reposition joints\, support postural alignment\, and improve proprioception for better functional outcomes. some of the benefits of therapeutic kinesiology taping include providing stability of joints while allowing full range of motion\, unloading tissue via decompression for improved sliding of myofascial layers and providing enhanced motor control through a novel stimulus during movement for improved body awareness. Evidence-based research suggests that clinicians who incorporate kinesiology taping into their treatment plan note improvement in the postural control and functional activities with both\, upper and lower limbs\, and increase in functional independency. \nParticipants of this course will learn to implement kinesiology taping for the most common problems in the pediatric patient with neuromotor disorders such as: truncal hypotonia\, shoulder girdle instability\, and extremity dysfunction. Participants will leave with practical and effective kinesiology taping skills they can integrate into their toolbox the next day to improve therapeutic outcomes. \nHighlights\n\nTherapeutic kinesiology taping interventions for common dysfunctions in the neurological pediatric patient\, such as truncal hypotonia\, shoulder girdle instability\, and extremity dysfunction\nEffective application and precautions of kinesiology taping to parents and caregivers to include this modality in a home program\nCase study practice to gain the indications and protocols for applying handling and therapeutic taping interventions

SUMMARY:Playful Parts: The Intersection of Play Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) - Live Webinar

SUMMARY:Self-Regulation Interventions for Children & Adolescents: Reduce Frustration\, Emotional Outbursts & Oppositional Behaviors - Live Webcast
DESCRIPTION:This seminar will help you to better intervene with the challenging child—the one who won’t sit still; doesn’t follow directions; often throws tantrums; or has difficulty waiting for their turn. They may “hit first and ask questions later”. They react impulsively and have difficulty expressing what they need or what is frustrating them. We know this child is intelligent\, caring and kind\, but their behavior doesn’t reflect these positive qualities. SUMMARY:The Sensory and Sleep Connection - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The American Academy of Pediatrics (2020) estimates 25-50% of all children and 40% of adolescents are affected by sleep problems. Since so many children suffer from sleep issues\, it is essential for all healthcare providers to recognizethat sleep problems in children: can mimic symptoms of ADHD; cause depression and anxiety; may be linked to depressed immune responses; and in recent studies show a link to increased risk of diabetes\, heart disease\, and obesity (Sleep Foundation\, 2021). Adolescents who get an inadequate amount of sleep struggle more academically and have a higher incidence of mental health problems (Colrain &Baker\, 2011). Daytime and evening activities also improve orinterfere with sleep quality. Using active learning strategies\, participants will be able to provide caregiver education andwill learn evidence-based sleep routine and hygiene recommendations and strategies to support improved sleep-in pediatric clients. Promoting improved sleep-in pediatric clients improves family relationships and children’s success engaging in other important daily occupations. \nHighlights\n\nEvidence-based strategies to support improved sleep\nImplementing balanced screen/activity time\, routines\, and better sleep hygiene that promotes immediate change in sleeping patterns\nAddressing the negative impacts of inadequate sleep inthe pediatric population through the latest evidence\, treatment strategies\, and case studies
