SUMMARY:Evidence-Based Strategies for Infant Positioning and Handling - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:According to the March of Dimes\, in 2016 premature births increased for the first time in eight years to 9.6% or almost 1 in 10 babies. As therapists we are now confronted with even more medically complex infants many of which will suffer from motor\, vision and language delays. It is critical that we as clinicians be equipped with the knowledge to influence development as early as possible as it will have a lasting effect throughout their entire life. Many therapists have been introduced to the benefits of using tummy time\, however\, many clinicians knowledge of strategies and benefits to have a lasting effect on many issues are limited. \nIn this one-day\, hands-on course attendees will be able to look at the uses and benefits of tummy time on motor\, vision\, and language development. This course will specifically guide participants through hands-on activities on how tummy time has a direct correlation to motor activities such as crawling\, jumping\, catching a ball\, hand writing\, reading\, drooling\, feeding\, articulation and vision. Participants will seethe impact vision plays in all aspects of development and how tummy time is the first and best position to improve a baby’s ability to use their eyes together. Attendees will also review documented case studies on how simple eye convergence exercises can impact how a child functions as they develop. Therapists will leave with the knowledge to educate parents of the benefits of tummy time that will empower them to follow through in this critical point in development. \nHighlights\n\nImmediately improve your understanding of the impact that tummy time has on fine\, oral and gross motor development such as sitting\, crawling\, feeding and swallowing\nFunctional strategies to decrease the risk of plagiocephaly and torticollis\nHands-on labs to practice safe and effective prone treatment strategies to positively impact future development\nAccurate assessment and identification of red flags of typical vs. atypical infants\nParent education strategies and home treatment routines to maintain and improve function\nEffective tummy time techniques that impact vision and how this correlates to future development

SUMMARY:"Break Through" Self-Regulation Interventions for Children and Adolescents with Autism\, ADHD\, Sensory or Emotional Challenges - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Message from Your Presenter … \nNo one ever said that working with children with autism\, ADHD or sensory disorders is easy. Theo will only eat white foods\, tends to be buried in his own world and melts when he is transitioned too quickly. Steven\, in 6th grade\, has ADHD\, poor organization skills and an attitude that is hard to break through. But\, how do we help a child break through the self-regulation issues that limit their achievements? \nThat was the question I posed to myself twelve years ago. I set out to learn as much as I could about theories\, techniques\, and research that could help make the lives of these young people much more manageable and promising. I took intensive courses on multi-sensory approaches\, sensory integration\, self-regulation\, yoga\, autism\, ADHD and became a Certified Autism Specialist in 2016. I have extensive experience adapting these techniques to make them usable in a variety of settings while working closely with teachers\, aides\, child study professionals and parents. \nJoin me as I guide you through a broad set of self-regulation interventions culled from my years of research and practice along with strategies for adapting them to your setting. You will leave my program with the essential skills\, interventions and strategies to help children find harmony with themselves\, their families and the world around them! \nYou will learn: \n\nThe most effective calming\, sensory\, motor or behavioral techniques for a given type of behavior\nPeer-to-peer video feedback as a social intervention for children and teens with ASD\nSleep interventions for children with erratic sleep schedules\nInterventions for Repetitive and Restrictive Behaviors for a child with stereotypy\nOrganization strategies for home and school for teenagers with ADHD\nAnd more!\n\nI look forward to seeing you there! Register today!

SUMMARY:Sensory Integration Roadmap - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Sensory integration sessions are\, by nature\, child-led. Child-led therapy can be challenging to navigate and measure\, as it relies on the child’s spontaneous exploration. To support clinicians in this approach\, it is helpful to have a clear framework of the neurological processes involved in sensory integration. Once you understand the “why” of the neurology you will have a clear understanding of how to plan your sessions. This course provides a comprehensive overview of sensory processing theory and practice\, with a focus on how it relates to common motor challenges such as trunk weakness\, balance deficits\, bilateral coordination deficits and dyspraxia. By applying sensory processing principles to these areas\, therapists can enhance the child’s engagement\, motivation and progress. Physical therapists\, occupational therapists\, and speech-language pathologists will all benefit from this course. Learning how to identify a child’s unique sensory profile and in turn\, plan sessions with “just right” challenges\, will translate into improved outcomes. \nHighlights\n\nReview underlying neurology of sensory processing and how this relates to treatment planning\nPlan effective sensory Integration sessions while maintaining a child-led approach\nTake quality information into work the next day and provide better sessions for your kiddos!
