SUMMARY:Are We Having Fun Yet? Reading Comprehension and Motivation
DESCRIPTION:Proficient reading comprehension is linked not just to how well children read\, but how much they read. Students who understand what they read are more motivated to read\, and the more children read\, the better they are at comprehending text. Children with comprehension deficits are less motivated to read\, resulting in fewer opportunities to improve text comprehension\, often culminating in avoidance of reading altogether. This session will explore the powerful motivation-comprehension connection that can either fuel reading motivation or accelerate reading failure. Participants will leave with multiple ready-to-use motivation-boosting strategies to help students become more engaged\, confident\, and successful readers.
