DESCRIPTION:Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neuro development disorder that begins prenatally. ASD affects social communication\, sensory processing\, aspects of executive functioning and often motor skills. Over the past two decades\, the prevalence of this disorder has progressively increased. The scientific community has been looking for biological markers for the earlier identification of ASD. Current research of the structural and functional differences between the autistic and neuro typical brain will be discussed in this course as several key differences have been identified.These differences affect many aspects of life and learning for an individual with autism. \nWith a better understanding of these key differences\, clinicians can develop treatment plans that are more effective.
