SUMMARY:Taping for Posture and Alignment in Pediatrics - Live Stream
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed for the physical therapists\,occupational therapists\, athletic trainers\, and speech-language pathologists who seek a better understanding of how therapeutic taping can be used to effectively influence postural alignment to facilitate a stable base for movement. This course will include demonstrations using two different media: kinesiology taping and Superwrap™ along with an introduction to the use of rigid strapping tape. \nTechniques presented will focus on alignment of trunk and extremities for increased function. Course material will focus on basic concepts of theory\, assessment\, and treatment of the child with cerebral palsy and other neuro- motor disorders in relation to the use of taping and alignment. The course will include lab sessions and case studies to reinforce didactic information as well as a discussion of problem solving to determine the best taping technique and medium. \nHighlights\n\nHands-on lab utilizing kinesiology taping techniques for improved function and alignment of trunk\, hand\, jaw\, and lip closure and increasing length of hamstrings\nPractice wrapping techniques utilizing Superwrap™ to facilitate musculoskeletal alignment\nPowerful techniques for improved alignment of the trunk utilizing either kinesiology tape or rigid strapping taping

SUMMARY:Functional Assessment and Testing Strategies in Pediatric Care - Live Stream
DESCRIPTION:Treating children with any level of disability can present multiple challenges. There can be underlying issues that are not immediately obvious. An in-depth evaluation is required to uncover what might be interfering with function. This course will present how to use the ICF (International Classification of Function) and the use of a systems approach to analyze challenges that a child presents. We will explore case studies of real examples to further clinicians’ understanding of these two systems. Therapists will learn to apply problem-solving techniques using the ICF template. In addition\, participants will become comfortable using a systems approach to explore multiple systems that could interfere with function\, with a goal of understanding achievable goals for children of all levels of function. \nHighlights\n\nBuilding a systems-based approach for the evaluation process to gain in depth information of multiple factors that can influence performance\nBest practice for using the International Classification of Function (IFC) \nDetermining key priorities for building an appropriate treatment strategy\nUtilizing the goal attainment scale to make the outcome measures achievable in a timely manner to showcase the child’s progress\nCase studies of children with varying levels of disability to analyze movement disorders and the main treatment priorities
