SUMMARY:#7302 SIP: Swallowing in Pediatrics - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The SIPS (swallowing in pediatrics) course is designed to equip the feeding therapist with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills essential for evaluating and managing pediatric dysphagia effectively for patients birth to 18 years of age. Pediatric dysphagia is defined as any disruption to the swallowing sequence that results in a compromise and safety\, efficiency\, or adequacy of fluid and or nutritional intake (Dodrill & Gosa\, 2015). Throughout our sessions\, we will explore the anatomy and physiology of pediatric swallowing\, discuss common etiologies and clinical manifestations of dysphagia in children\, and review evidence-based assessment tools and therapeutic interventions. We will discuss crucial differences between feeding disorders versus swallowing problems. This class offers a crucial opportunity to enhance your expertise and contribute to improving the quality of life for young patients with swallowing difficulties. Course instruction methods include lecture\, videos\, case studies and question/answers. (Intermediate Level) \n  \nInstructor: Krisi Brackett PhD\, CCC-SLP\, C/NDT
