SUMMARY:Fall Risk Reduction Strategies in Lower Extremity Amputee - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Despite advances in prosthetic technology\, falls continue to be a major health risk in the lower-extremity amputee population. Greater than 50% of the individuals in this population report at least one fall per year which can result in life-changing injuries with significant impacts on functional ambulation. This course will sort through the various risk factors that contribute to fall risk in the lower-extremity amputee population and identify interventions for each of these factors. Prosthetic issues that can contribute to fall risk will also be covered in this course. Many of these prosthetic dysfunctions will require referral to a prosthetist\, but knowing when this is appropriate is paramount. Simple interventions that can have a positive effect on prosthetic dysfunction that can be performed by the physical therapist will also be covered. \nHighlights\n\nImmediately improve your long-term outcomes and quality of life with your lower extremity amputee patients\nMultiple interventions for mid-swing toe clearance that will show meaningful improvements

SUMMARY:#7342 Changing High and Low Muscle Tone Through Neuroplasticity In Pediatrics - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:High or low tone in the muscles interfere with active movements and milestones in the pediatric population. When tone is treated through the sensory systems\, neuroplasticity will take place and new functional neural connections develop. The results can positively affect self-feeding and developmental play.  Skills acquired in this presentation introduction to Neuroplasticity techniques for tone can be used the next day in your clinic.  Course instruction method includes: Lecture\, Demonstration\, Videos\, Pictures\, Case Studies and Question/Answers \n  \n  \nInstructor: Karen Pryor PhD\, PT\, DPT\, ND\, CH\, CPRCS

SUMMARY:#7307 Pediatric Brain Part 2: Neurobiology of Emotional Regulation and its Appl - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Motivations\, Inc.\nFor course dates\, times and registration\, please visit: www.motivationsceu.com\nSUMMARY: Emotional regulation is the basis of connection\, safety\, relationships\, and a child’s successful engagement\nin their daily occupations of school\, play\, activities\, and social and family connections. This class will dive into the\nneurobiology of emotional regulation. We will discuss the neurobiology of the limbic system\, including the thalamus\,\ninsula\, and right frontal cortex as these systems work together to support emotional regulation. We will learn about the\nbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems as well as Polyvagal Theory and its connection to these\nsystems. We include discussion on the somatosensory system because of its close connection to supporting regulation.\nTreatment strategies to support both regulation and co-regulation will be provided to allow therapists to confidently\nintegrate the information learned. It does not matter what our specialty is as a therapist\, if we cannot build therapeutic\nrapport with our pediatric client\, the level of our success with them will be limited. Understanding the root of emotional\nregulation and how to support it will elevate your treatment to the next level.\nThis course has been modified from the original 14-hour Pediatric Brain Course taught for the past 15 years. It can be\nviewed individually and also works well as a series with Parts 1 and 3\, as well as in conjunction with the Primitive Reflex\nIntegration Course. Course instruction methods include lecture\, demonstration\, videos\, case studies and\nquestion/answers. (Intermediate Level)
