SUMMARY:Food and Mood: A Therapist’s Guide to The Role of Nutrition in Mental Health - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Diet is an often-ignored aspect of the prevention of poor mental health and the promotion of good emotional health. The causes of behavioral health problems are complex\, and nutrition is a valuable yet often missing piece of the puzzle to help clients improve their emotional state. \nImagine if you could feel more confident talking with clients about nutrition from a therapist’s point of view\, and do so while adhering to our ethical code. \nKathleen Zamperini\, LPC\, CIMHP\, brings a unique perspective as a licensed professional counselor with a degree in nutrition and certification with the Mental Health Integrative Medical Institute. She uses the language of a therapist to explain key concepts of integrating a cognitive behavioral approach with nutritional strategies to improve treatment outcomes. \nDiscover the clinical applications to transform the way your clients view food and revolutionize your clinical toolbox to ethically educate clients about nutrition and how they can make lasting changes.

SUMMARY:#7210 and #7211 The Neurologic Upper Extremity : Preparations and Impairment - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:#7210 The Neurologic Upper Extremity I: Preparations and Impairment \n  \nTreat the entire upper extremity kinematic chain; not just arm movement!  In the first part of this two-part course series\, Dr. Steve Page integrates lecture\, video\, and case examples to discuss the upper extremity kinematic chain. Specific discussions include comprehensive evaluation and treatment of the core\, posture\, scapulae\, and hemiplegic shoulder\, and body/arm positioning\, and their relative contributions to upper extremity motor performance and function. Dr. Page will integrate biomechanical assessment and clinical problem-solving skills to prioritize impairments and progress interventions. A mixture of demonstrations will be used to allow immediate incorporation into practice. These treatment ideas will include priority stretches\, low/high tone\, subluxation\, pain\, and functional activities. Note: This is the first course in a two-part series focusing on management and restoration of the paretic upper extremity.  Course instruction method includes: Lecture\, Demonstration\, Vides\, Case Studies\, Question/Answer\, Group Discussion. \n  \n#7211 The Neurologic Upper Extremity II: A Multi-Level Approach to Compensation\nAfter nearly 20 years teaching some of the first stroke continuing education courses\, Dr. Steve Page knows a thing or two about the upper extremity! In the second portion of this two-part series\, Dr. Page discusses strategies to facilitate and optimize upper extremity movement following a neurological injury. Building on Part 1’s focus on mitigating impairment and readying the upper extremity for practice\, this second course focuses on optimizing assessments and goals\, the importance of practice\, strategies to grade practice and drive learning\, and task specific training in a variety of patient presentations. Augmentative strategies to enhance practice attempts (eg\, modalities; orthotics) are also discussed. Uniquely\, this course uses impairment/functional levels as a framework to present interventions and goals that might be applied to particular patients. Note: This is the second course in a two-part series focusing on management and restoration of the paretic upper extremity. Course instruction method includes: Lecture\, Demonstration\, Vides\, Case Studies\, Question/Answer\, Group Discussion. \n  \nInstructor: Steve Page\, OT/L\, PhD\, MS\, MOT \nLive Webinar Dates and Times: \n#7210 on Wednesday\, March 20\, 2024  (8:00 pm – 10:00 pm EST) Part One (3 CEUs) \n#7211 on Wednesday\, March 27\, 2024 (8:00 pm – 10:00 pm EST) Part Two (3 CEUs)
