SUMMARY:Self-Regulation Interventions for Children and Adolescents: Reduce Frustration\, Emotional Outbursts and Oppositional Behaviors - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:This seminar will help you to better intervene with the challenging child—the one who won’t sit still; doesn’t follow directions; often throws tantrums; or has difficulty waiting for their turn. They may “hit first and ask questions later”. They react impulsively and have difficulty expressing what they need or what is frustrating them. We know this child is intelligent\, caring and kind\, but their behavior doesn’t reflect these positive qualities. These are the children who confuse and frustrate parents and who overwhelm teachers and peers. They struggle to meet basic expectations and are unable to succeed in school\, with peers and at home. \nJoin clinical psychologist Dr. Ehlert and learn to effectively intervene with the emotional and behavioral dysregulation of children with High-Functioning Autism\, ADHD\, Learning Disabilities and Sensory Processing Disorders. Through hands-on activities and dynamic discussion\, you will learn techniques\, behavioral strategies\, problem-solving strategies and brain training exercises to: \n\nAddress the sensory\, language and executive functioning processing deficits that trigger them\nIncrease their self-control\, social success\, emotional control and task completion\nTeach flexibility\, tolerance\, thinking it through and decision-making\nReduce the frequency and duration of their tantrums and emotional outbursts\n\nWalk away with proven emotional\, behavioral and processing strategies that lead to social and academic success!

SUMMARY:Hippotherapy - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Around 460 BC\, Hippocrates wrote about the benefits and natural exercise being on horseback provides. However\, it wasn’t until the 1960’s that it started to gain public attention in the US. Currently\, animals have been making more of a place for themselves in the healthcare arena. Horses included. Hippotherapy is a treatment strategy exclusively utilized by licensed physical\, occupational and speech therapy practitioners. During this treatment\, a client is properly paired with equine movement to encourage and improve the client’s motor output. This is done by pairing the integrated movement patterns of the horse with that of the client.Performed properly\, hippotherapy can result in 5\,000 repetitions in 5 minutes. This increased efficiency yields demonstrably improved results when compared to traditional therapeutic modalities. \nHighlights\n\nUnderstand how equine movement is utilized to improve outcomes\nIdentify the diagnoses that benefit most from this intervention\nLearn how equine movement directly impacts essential human organ systems\nIntegrate your discipline-specific knowledge with thisunique treatment strategy

SUMMARY:Therapeutic Taping Strategies for the Lower Extremity - Live Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nThis course will provide an overview and background on the role of traditional inelastic taping (eg\, McConnell taping techniques) and various forms of elastic taping using therapeutic tape for deloading/facilitation/inhibition strategies.  There will be a review of the relevant literature produced in this area with an emphasis on lower extremity conditions that are most suited for the use of therapeutic taping including patellofemoral pain syndrome\, lower extremity swelling/lymphatic drainage\, achilles tendonitis\, foot overpronation\, and myofascial trigger points. \nThrough an integrated format of evidence-based findings and video demonstrations\, participants will be able to apply specific taping protocols that can be quickly integrated into practice. Therapeutic tape can be a valuable clinical tool used in conjunction with other treatments and modalities to have immediate positive effects on movement and performance\, while reducing pain and improving clinical outcomes for patients\, clients\, and athletes. \nCourse Objectives\nAt the end of this course\, the participant will be able to: \n\nDescribe the type of tape available (inelastic vs. elastic) for musculoskeletal interventions.\nExplain the contraindications for the use of therapeutic taping applications.\nRecognize the applications of taping for various conditions such as\, lower extremity swelling/lymphatic drainage\, knee osteoarthritis\, and foot overpronation.\nIdentify appropriate evidence-based techniques for the use of taping for patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome.\nDiscuss the role of available evidence as it relates to the clinical practice of therapeutic taping.
