DESCRIPTION:Many practicing speech-language pathologists (SLP) find themselves utilizing counseling skills with their patients\, with little to no formal training. It is very important to treat the whole person\, including supporting their emotional and mental health. Although the area of counseling can be recognized as a scope of practice\, many professionals do not feel adequately equipped to serve their clients in this arena. Understanding counseling models and qualities of an effective counselor can assist practitioners to have more effective therapy sessions. \nThis course will provide participants with a better understanding of improving upon counseling as it relates to the allied health profession.
