SUMMARY:Practical Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Assessment Strategies (Live Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:An estimated 3.5 million Americans have speech disabilities so significant that they struggle to be understood by others. Yet many never gain access to the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices they need. The process of identifying the right system can be daunting\, with a vast array of access methods\, device features\, and individualized user needs making AAC assessment complex and often inconsistent. Studies show that up to 40% of AAC systems are abandoned\, often because of poor feature matching or a lack of collaborative assessment. This not only limits communication but can lead to frustration\, loss of funding\, and reduced functional outcomes. On the other hand\, effective AAC assessment leads to improved communication success\, greater client engagement\, and optimized clinical outcomes. Clinicians are no longer just matching devices. They’re matching lives with opportunities to connect. This workshop provides a clear\, practical framework for AAC assessment\, offering hands-on tools\, real-life case examples\, and strategies that can be implemented immediately. Participants will learn to identify communicative intent\, trial appropriate access methods\, and make informed decisions that support lasting\, functional communication outcomes in schools\, clinics\, and community settings. \nThe content of this program is germane to children\, students and clients ages 3-22 years old. \nTarget Audience: Speech-Language Pathologists

SUMMARY:Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Holistic Stuttering Therapy
DESCRIPTION:People who stutter (PWS) commonly experience social anxiety and develop avoidance behaviors related to speaking situations. Traditional fluency-enhancement techniques may be less effective when state anxiety interferes with communication. This course explores the integration of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)\, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)\, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to support communication confidence and functional speaking outcomes. The course provides participants with conversational reframing techniques and therapeutic patterns designed to reduce anxiety and support goal achievement. Tim will share practical examples demonstrating how NLP- and CBT-informed approaches can help PWS improve participation and communication success.

SUMMARY:Neurological Rehabilitation Through Motor Learning
DESCRIPTION:Over the past twenty years therapy professions have steadily integrated psychological research into practice. We now seamlessly use motor learning concepts when we discuss interventions. Concepts of practice paradigms and feedback delivery are standard knowledge for therapists. Fortunately\, however\, the research world is not stagnant\, and we are now seeing revolutionary new ideas that are advancing our understanding of how people learn and develop motor skills. This course delves into this evidence and applies it to therapy practice in effective and practical ways. \nBy the end of this course\, you will be able to improve outcomes for your patients with neurological impairment by improving learning and performance through both mutual partnership with your patients and using engaging intervention strategies. Participants will build their autonomy and self-efficacy leading to better carry over and ownership of their rehab process. This course will enhance patient focus and attention to task through motivation and goal directed task building. \nTarget Audience: Physical Therapists\, Physical Therapist Assistants\, Occupational Therapists\, Occupational Therapy Assistants
